Federal and Provincial organizations are now setting and enforcing more strict regulations to govern how a producer is to trace, document, rectify and report fugitive emissions. 

There are many new advancements in technology that are being implemented in all sectors to help reduce harmful emissions. 

Slip Stream Systems

A system designed to capture vented hydrocarbons as a supplementary fuel source for natural gas engines and can be added to existing systems. Reusing these emissions, which are normally lost to the atmosphere, reduces the main fuel consumption. This reduced fuel consumption allows more sales of the compressed gas and reduces the greenhouse gas emissions from the site.

Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR)

NOx is a general term referring to Nitrogen Oxide (NO) gas and Nitrogen Dioxide (NO2 ) gas. It forms at the high temperatures of the engine combustion process. NOx is successfully converted to Nitrogen gas (N2) using SCR, the most effective technology available today. SCR works by promoting a chemical reaction between NOx and ammonia gas (NH3). The resulting nitrogen gas and water vapor are harmless to health and the environment, and flow through the system and exit the exhaust stack.

Instrument Air Compressors 

The addition of an instrument air compressor unit to any facility still using methane gas as supply to pneumatic instruments is a simple and cheap way to reduce emissions. Pneumatic instruments are still widely used in industry today and consume large amounts of methane. Many pneumatic instruments and controllers steadily consume gas to operate due to their inner workings. A compressed air system may consist essentially of one or more compressors with a power source, control panel system, filters, coolers, receivers, air dryer, interconnecting piping plus a distribution system to carry the air to points of application. If power is an issue in a remote location, than we can implement a solar powered instrument air compressor unit. 

Infrared Video Camera

Facilities emit gases that can harm the environment and impede the health of company employees and inhabitants of the surrounding area. Fugitive emission detection can now be detected and captured by use of a special infrared video camera. An optical gas imaging video camera is a quick, non-contact measuring instrument that can immediately give the camera operator an overview of the situation. It can also be used in hard-to-access locations, since it can detect small leaks from several meters away and big leaks from hundreds of meters away, and it can also show leaks in moving transport vehicles, such as tanker trucks. This technology has proved to be an excellent tool to help companies detect and repair various gas leaks.
